Chatterbox is a rebellion against the shortening attention span of readers, as well as the current pacing trends of popular short fiction. We love maximalism, pertinent rambling, and stories that build to a crescendo, even if they take a while to get there.
Every month, we publish one work of fiction—a story or novel excerpt—accompanied by an interview with the author. We aim to publish work that is consistently exceptional, occasionally odd, and always between 4,000 and 10,000 words.
As editors, writers, readers, & friends, our tastes are far-reaching. The best way to determine if your piece is a good fit for Chatterbox is to read our most recent publications. That said, we’ve also mocked up a nifty Venn Diagram, linked here, in hopes of making our interests more transparent.
